INSTRUCTOR: JOAN VANOORSDALL
This is a mat yoga flow practice designed for those with some yoga experience. The first half hour of the practice is considered a yang asana practice, targeting muscle strength and flexibility, flowing from one pose to another with careful verbal cues. The remainder of the practice is in the yin tradition: poses are held for longer periods of time and target the deeper, connective tissues. Rooted in the breath, the sequence of standing, seated, and reclining poses build strength, increases flexibility, improves balance, and quiets the mind. Each class will begin with a brief meditation and end in a period of savasana, or deep relaxation.
This practice is adaptable for all levels of yoga students. However, if you have never done yoga before, we ask that you arrange a time with the instructor for an individual, no-cost session to introduce you to the practice.
