August 18 @ 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Did you know that people have been using plants to dye fabric for centuries? Long before synthetic dyes, natural materials like walnuts, berries, and dandelions were used to create vibrant colors. In this fun, hands-on program, you’ll make your own colorful tie-dye shirt to take home while learning about the plants that have been used for generations to dye fabrics. Discover which plants produce which colors and how they’ve been used to bring color to cloth throughout history.
We’ll be using modern dyes for the activity, but you’ll walk away with a deeper appreciation for the roots of this colorful art form. Space is limited, so be sure to sign up in advance at the main office. Shirts are $12.
