Due to a recent upgrade to Alleghany County’s accounting software system incorrect assessed values for the 2024 tax year were printed on the personal property tax tickets for Clifton Forge residents. We will not accept any additional personal property tax payments until this mistake is resolved. For those who have already paid for this year we will make the appropriate adjustments to your account, including refunds or additional charges as might be required.

We are diligently working with Alleghany County to resolve the issue and will have new tax tickets printed and, in the mail, ASAP. We will also be collaborating with our attorney and town council to extend the date that personal property taxes will be due for 2024. We will announce the new due date at a later notice.

We acknowledge and apologize for this inconvenience but are working as quickly as we can to correct it.
