Grove, the new evening-length dance work by choreographer Shannon Hummel, proudly makes its world premiere at The Underground of the Historic Masonic Theatre. Unpacking humankind’s alignment with the natural world and our often misguided belief in our dominance over it, Grove features professional company dancers and collaborators Katie Dean, Kelsey Kramer, Junie Marsh, and Ammara Shafqat; Youth Apprentices Anaïs Dallett and Z’Yanah Gonzalez; and original live music by Hans Bilger. Based in New York City for 25 years and called “a rare gem” by The New York Times, Cora is thrilled to premier Grove in the Alleghany Highlands, expanding the work of its newly established rural hub, Cora Dance Alleghany, providing pay-what-you-can professional dance education and performance in the region.
