The “Welcome to Spring, 2024 Retreat” is open to beginning, intermediate and advanced Shopowners and store employees. Kaye is excited to once again present a creative business seminar for Quilt Shop Owners and/or employees on with three days of events that will include both business practices and a medley of quilting techniques. Check-in and machine set-up on Tuesday, March 5 at 5:00 pm. All lessons include a variety of creative techniques for your consumer to use and embrace. The “Welcome to Spring” Quilt Retreat features a medley of Kaye’s creative patchwork techniques, in addition to working with rulers and accuquilt. Instead of one project quilt, Kaye will teach and demonstrate quilt block techniques which may be used to build one quilt or a variety of quilts. As a special treat, Kaye will teach the newest addition to her
“Women in History” Series—the Odette Ueltschi Quilt Block. Setting options will be explored with suggested layouts. During specific hours of the seminar, two quilt labs will be available in the Theatre auditorium. Nina McVeigh will show how to work with a medley of feet and rulers to achieve unforgettable quilting methods as well as finishing techniques, bindings and machine quilting. Gayle Hillert will demonstrate creating with machine stitches and feet you may not normally use for quilting, including using the Embroidery/Quilt module. In addition, attendees will spend some time on the many variations of labeling your quilt to tell its story. Machines will be set up in the WestRock room so that= you may get hands-on experience with the lab techniques that you’ve been shown. Kaye, Nina and Gayle will be available throughout the Retreat to reinforce the medley of techniques shown with further harmonious instruction.
Kaye will suggest ways to best present several programs to your customer in order to sell supplies and close sales as you focus on precision piecing. Kaye will help you merge the secrets of making a living while making a life while you connect with your peers in roundtable discussions. Kaye says, “I have presented over 10 years of business seminars for retail owners and coordinated another 10+ years of business seminars around the globe. My focus continues to be on basic education of patchwork principles with the goal of empowering each person to discover the ability to be his or her own designer. While I have my preferred methods of achieving good results, we will focus on a medley of techniques that you may implement immediately and that will make your heart sing and your cash register boogey woogey. In addition to piecing and finishing, we will work with feet, stitches, rulers, accuquilt, and the quilt module—which most people think only does embroidery! Kaye’s Welcome to Spring Facebook page is up and running to enable her to talk with attendees, deliver the supply lists and answer all questions prior to the Retreat. We have posted lodging suggestions and recommendations on that page. If you have questions, please call the Theatre at 540 862 5655
